Charitable Gold Awards Guide
Here’s how to kick off your nonprofit’s new funding from gold property today.
Please send an email campaign (suggested copy below) encouraging your supporters to collect unwanted or broken gold jewelry, designate your nonprofit as the beneficiary, and then ship the donations to Ethical Gold Institute. Please provide your EIN and include this link for their convenience. Donors may expect to receive an email from Ethical Gold Institute with a detailed donation receipt for their contribution within two weeks after we receive the donation. Ethical Gold Institute sends your charity a check for 80% of the sales proceeds for unrestricted use within 60 days.
Donating gold also helps to save Earth from the ravages of gold mining. A single donated gold ounce saves approximately 250 tons of blasted rock, 11,000 kilowatt-hours of wasted electricity, 300 gallons of arsenic-polluted water, 6 tons of carbon emissions, 9 lbs of lead, 5 lbs of arsenic, 3 ounces of mercury, and 3 ounces of cyanide.
Your message may explain how gifts of gold benefit both the donors, your charity - and also our planet and people.
Suggested email campaign message
Dear Donor,
I’m pleased to share a new way to support [Charity Name] through donated gold jewelry or property, as a new mission for your unneeded valuables, and as a gift that generates enormous environmental and social benefits.
I want you to know that your donated gold property will be respectfully received, analyzed for gold content, and publicly sold for its best value. Then, we’ll receive 80% of the proceeds as a no-strings-attached award from our partner Ethical Gold Institute (EGI), a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit specializing in creating charitable dollars from donated gold jewelry/property. Their service is free to nonprofits, thanks to the 20% balance, which helps them cover operational costs. Your generosity is rewarded with several benefits, including a tax-deductible receipt for your donated property, freedom from safekeeping burdens, preventing substantial environmental damage, supporting a sustainable world for future generations, and helping reduce the social and human impacts of gold mining.
You may donate gold property in any form or condition, such as rings, necklaces, brooches, pins, watches, findings, fillings, decorative objects, etc. Donating these items can make a real difference for your charity!
Thank you for considering this request; we appreciate your generosity and kindness.
Signed
